By J. Madden
I agree with the Mr. Shipman's review. These Adidas AX1 are more like a running shoe with lug sole. They have a firm heel not really cushioned like an "air" or "gel" shoe. I would say it is like a hiking shoe with the flexibility of an athletic shoe. Not necessarily what you would want for an all day hike with a pack but, tons of traction for light day hike or excursion. This might be the perfect shoe for an ultra-light hiker who normally hikes in running shoes.
Just got mine so I can't comment on durability yet.
They are sized small so you should order at least a 1/2 size up. I wear an 11 to 11 1/2 normally and needed a 12 in these. They are size similarly to Adidas Kanadia's which I see in stores locally.

By William Shipman
These shoes are very comfortable. I thought they would be boot like which was the reason for the purchase. I had bought some Adidas boots years back that have a lot of the characteristics of this shoe and I wanted another pair. The truth is that this is a very light running shoe. These shoes have made me an Adidas fan.

By theotherguydidit
I wear a 10 1/2 but bought an 11 to make sure I had enough toe room as apparently there is a sizeing issuse when it comes to 1/2 sizes. This is not even a size 10. This will be the second pair of shoes returned because of mis-sizeing by the manufacturer. I'm over fifty years old and my feet stopped growing quite a while ago. I'm very disappointed that AMZ can't get the retailer's/supplier's to meet AMERICAN standard sizeing.
I own Rockport's and Clark's in 10 1/2 that fit fine. All are seized to the American standard, these adidas are sized China, Japan, France, German, UK and American, its a composit of the sizes. It is not an 11. Buyer be ware.
